WHAT WE DO
1. Communication as the basis of language: the primary goal of learning a language is not just mastering grammar, but effective communication. We aim to teach students to convey their ideas and emotions, rather than just mechanically reproduce phrases.
2. Individuality and self-expression: every person is unique, and it’s important for their thoughts to be heard. Teaching self-expression helps students develop their individuality and creativity, building confidence when using the language.
3. Practical application: the ability to express thoughts allows students to use the language in real-life situations — in communication, at work, and while traveling, forming skills that will be useful in life.
4. Development of critical thinking: expressing thoughts in a foreign language requires analysis and formulation of ideas, which helps in developing critical thinking skills.
5. Long-term motivation: when students realize that language is a tool for self-expression, it boosts their motivation to learn, making it more meaningful.
6. Emotional connection: language is a tool for conveying emotions. We teach students to share their feelings, helping to build deep relationships with interlocutors.
Thus, we do not just teach language skills, but help students express their thoughts and feelings in a foreign language, making learning deeper and more practical.
1. Oral learning: we focus on language comprehension through listening. This allows students to form language structure without the need for reading or writing assignments.
2. Quick memorization: by listening to the language, students immediately start memorizing its structure orally. This creates natural associations and helps them understand how grammatical constructions and vocabulary work in context.
3. Deep understanding: learning without reading allows students to focus on the logic and structure of the language, leading to more intuitive understanding.
4. Active engagement: oral learning requires active student participation. They don’t just listen but also respond, developing their listening and speaking skills simultaneously.
5. Long-term results: building language structure through listening contributes to more solid language retention, making it easier to apply knowledge in real-life situations.
Thus, we build the language structure in your brain without reading or writing assignments, promoting deeper and more intuitive mastery of the language.
1. Regular practice: just like physical exercises, language learning requires regular practice. We create opportunities for constant use of the language, helping to “train” the brain and develop communication skills.
2. Intensive training: in the gym, you perform exercises to achieve a specific result. Similarly, we use intensive language training to help students overcome language barriers and gain confidence in their abilities.
3. Gradual increase in difficulty: just as in sports, where you gradually increase the load, we start with simple tasks and gradually move to more complex exercises. This allows students to confidently learn the language without overwhelming them with difficult tasks from the start.
4. Focus on results: we aim for specific results, just like sports coaches help you reach physical goals. Our approach focuses on developing communication skills, allowing students to see progress and maintain motivation.
5. Coordination and control: body training involves coordinating movements, while learning a language requires coordinating thoughts and speech. We teach students to manage their thoughts and express them in a foreign language, which promotes more natural and confident communication.
Thus, we teach your brain to speak as you train your body in the gym. This approach, based on regular practice and progressive load, helps effectively develop communication skills and confidence in using a foreign language.
1. Creating a safe environment: we create a supportive and friendly atmosphere where students can freely express themselves without the fear of making mistakes. This is essential for reducing anxiety and increasing confidence.
2. Individual approach: every student is unique, and we consider their personal needs and level of preparation. This individualized approach helps us address specific fears, making learning more effective.
3. Gradual increase in difficulty: we start with simple tasks and gradually increase the difficulty. This helps students move forward confidently without feeling overwhelmed or fearful of difficult tasks.
4. Focus on achievements: we highlight students’ successes, even the small ones. Acknowledging achievements creates a positive experience, helping to overcome fears and boosting motivation.
5. Skill development through practice: we offer plenty of opportunities to practice the language in real-life situations. The more students use the language, the less fear and doubt they have. Practice helps them see how the language functions in everyday life.
6. Understanding language as a tool, not an obstacle: we teach students to see language as a means of communication, not a complicated system of rules. This helps eliminate the fear of making mistakes and focus on conveying their thoughts.
Thus, we help students overcome the fear of learning a foreign language by creating a supportive environment, using an individual approach, and focusing on their successes. This allows them to confidently develop their language skills and enjoy the learning process.
1. Scientific approach to memorization: we use techniques based on research in neurobiology and psychology. These methods optimize the memorization process, ensuring deeper and more lasting retention of information.
2. Associations and visualization: our program includes creating associations and visual images that help link new words and concepts to familiar ones. This makes memorization more natural and enjoyable.
3. Spaced repetition: we use spaced repetition, a technique that helps effectively consolidate information into long-term memory. This prevents students from forgetting what they’ve learned and makes it easier to recall the material later.
4. Practical application: we emphasize the use of learned words and phrases in real-life situations. Practice helps reinforce knowledge and transforms it into active skills, improving memorization.
5. Individual techniques: we teach students to find their own memorization methods, taking into account their unique preferences and learning styles. This allows each student to develop techniques that work best for them.
Thus, we provide special techniques for easy memorization based on scientific approaches.
WHAT WE DON'T DO
1. Priority of oral communication: spoken language developed much earlier than writing in human history. This means that oral communication is a more natural and intuitive way of interaction, making it paramount in the language learning process.
2. Neurobiological aspects: oral speech activates stronger and deeper areas of the brain responsible for perception, memory, and speech, compared to those responsible for reading and writing. This allows students to acquire the language more quickly and effectively.
3. Focus on auditory perception: we use techniques based on language perception by ear, helping students better understand the structure and intonation of the language. This promotes a more natural language acquisition process.
4. Focus on practice: we place greater emphasis on the practical application of the language through dialogues, role-playing, and discussions. This helps students learn to use the language in real situations, which is a more effective way of learning.
5. Individual approach: every student is unique and may have their own learning preferences. We don’t impose written tasks but instead offer various methods tailored to individual needs.
6. Confidence development: oral practice without written tasks helps students build confidence in their skills. They can focus on pronunciation and expressing their thoughts without being distracted by writing.
We don’t make students write and read in our lessons, which allows them to focus on oral communication and reduces anxiety. Since spoken language activates more powerful areas of the brain, this approach promotes faster and more effective language acquisition, which is especially important for those who want to learn a foreign language quickly.
1. Importance of oral skills: we believe that oral skills are much more important and harder to develop. If a person can speak confidently, they can learn to read and write on their own. They don’t need to spend time and money on writing skills; they can do it themselves.
2. Eliminating stress: preparing for reading and writing tests can cause anxiety for students. By not focusing on such tests, we create a more relaxed atmosphere where language learning is seen as an enjoyable and natural process.
3. Focus on practical application: we emphasize role-playing, dialogues, and interactive exercises, which help students apply the language in real-life situations. This promotes better retention and reinforcement of knowledge.
4. Priority of oral communication: we believe that oral practice is the foundation of successful language acquisition. In real life, communication primarily occurs orally, and we aim to develop these skills, enabling students to interact confidently in various situations.
We don’t prepare students for reading and writing tests, focusing instead on oral practice. This approach creates a comfortable learning environment, develops confidence, and enhances practical communication skills, which are key to mastering the language in real-life situations.
1. Focus on active practice: during lessons, students actively concentrate on oral tasks. This ensures a high level of engagement and promotes more effective memorization.
2. Brain activation mode: specially designed exercises activate students’ brains, improving the learning process. In this state, information is better absorbed and retained.
3. Consolidation of learned material: the brain automatically integrates the skills learned in class into the existing knowledge map. For this, it is necessary for the
mind to not engage in similar tasks at the same time. Since the brain cannot absorb and consolidate new information simultaneously.
4. Harm of homework: homework can distract students and interfere with the consolidation process. When they try to complete similar tasks, it can lead to overload and hinder learning.
5. Using the principle of active rest: we believe that after lessons, students should engage in other activities that allow the brain to process and integrate information. This contributes to better language acquisition and makes the learning process more harmonious.
We don’t give homework because during lessons, students focus intensely on practical oral tasks. This approach activates the brain and allows it to consolidate information on its own, ultimately leading to deeper and more effective language mastery.
1. Flexibility and convenience: the online format allows students to learn at any time and place, making the learning process more accessible. Students can choose a convenient time and place for their lessons, which contributes to better material retention.
2. Access to diverse resources: in the online format, students can easily use various multimedia resources, such as videos, audio, and interactive materials. This makes learning more diverse and engaging.
3. Individual approach: online learning allows instructors to better adapt lessons to the needs of each student. This ensures a more personalized approach, increasing learning effectiveness.
4. Development of independence: learning in an online format fosters students’ independence and responsibility. They learn to organize their time and resources, which is an important skill in language learning and life in general.
We don’t have offline classes, and all lessons are conducted online. This approach ensures flexibility, convenience, and access to diverse resources, as well as supports a more personalized and effective learning experience, ultimately making language learning more comfortable and productive.
1. Natural memorization: we believe that memorizing words should happen naturally, in context. Instead of memorizing isolated words, we use practical exercises, dialogues, and role-playing, which promotes better retention and understanding.
2. Associations and examples: we teach students to create associations and use new words in sentences, helping them understand the meaning and use of words. This makes memorization more enjoyable and effective.
3. Individual approach: each student has their own unique learning profile. We help find memorization methods that work for them, eliminating the need for rote learning and making the learning process more enjoyable.
We don’t make students memorize words, but instead create conditions for natural memorization and active language use. This approach promotes deeper understanding and retention of knowledge, making the language learning process more effective and enjoyable.
1. Interactivity of the learning process: we believe that live interaction with the teacher and other students is much more effective than watching recorded materials. This allows for real-time questions and immediate feedback.
2. Adaptation to students’ needs: in online lessons, the instructor can adapt the lesson to the interests and level of the students, something that cannot be done with pre-recorded videos. This makes learning more personalized and effective.
3. Supporting engagement: live lessons contribute to a higher level of engagement and motivation. Students actively participate in discussions and practical tasks, which enhances material retention.
4. Feedback and correction: in live lessons, the instructor can immediately spot errors and correct them, which helps students learn faster and more effectively. Recorded videos can’t provide this level of interaction.
5. Building a community: live lessons help build a community of students who can communicate and support each other. This creates a motivating atmosphere and improves the learning process.
We don’t give recorded video lessons because live interaction and adaptability in the learning process significantly increase its effectiveness. This approach ensures interactivity, engagement, and the ability to receive immediate feedback, making language learning more productive and enjoyable.
INNOVATIONS
Language learning at the Swiss NeuroLanguage Academy is based on principles derived from neurobiology and cognitive psychology. Below are the foundations of our innovative methodology.
A newborn has approximately 100 billion free neurons; however, by age 16, all of these neurons become interconnected. This makes learning foreign languages significantly more challenging after this age. We consider the characteristics of both long-term and working memory. Long-term memory stores words, phrases, and grammar, while working memory is responsible for constructing sentences, limited to holding 3-4 items simultaneously.
Spoken language develops much earlier than written language, playing a crucial role in language mastery. By age 5, children are typically native speakers of their language, learning to read and write at a later stage. Different areas of the brain are responsible for spoken and written language.
Understanding these cognitive processes and limitations underpins our approach, making the study of a new language easy, quick, and effective.

STORIES

Serhii Andrusenko
Introduction
The Neurolinguistic Method represents a groundbreaking approach to language learning, focusing on natural communication over traditional rote memorization and grammar drills. This innovative methodology was developed by a passionate educator whose journey began over thirty years ago. Through a combination of personal experience and insights from the fields of neuroscience and linguistics, Serhii Andrusenko has created a teaching system that prioritizes spoken communication, reflecting how humans naturally acquire their first language.
Early Teaching Career
The Serhii’s foray into language education began with conventional methods, utilizing textbooks and workbooks and assigning homework just like many teachers of the time. Despite the initial enthusiasm, it soon became apparent that students were not making significant progress. This realization prompted a period of introspection and inquiry into the fundamental processes of language acquisition. Rather than accepting the status quo, the author sought to understand how individuals learn their native languages, particularly focusing on the early years of childhood development.
Insights into Language Acquisition
Observing children as they learn to speak without formal instruction revealed critical insights. Children spend their first year listening and absorbing sounds and phrases from their environment without the pressure of textbooks or homework. By the age of five, they often achieve fluency in their native language, demonstrating that spoken communication is a skill acquired through natural interaction rather than through structured learning. This observation spurred the author to develop a method that mirrors this organic process, emphasizing speaking as the primary mode of learning a second language.
Development of the Neurolinguistic Method
Serhii’s early attempts to create a new teaching methodology involved eliminating unnecessary grammatical terminology and focusing on the practical use of language. This approach aligns with the way individuals naturally use their first language, where communication flows effortlessly without conscious thought about grammatical rules. However, the initial exercises felt mechanical, prompting further refinement.
In the early 2000s, a growing interest in neuroscience provided Serhii with new perspectives. Recognizing that speech is a neuro-brain activity, he began to explore how memory functions in language learning. By studying psychological experiments, Serhii learned that our working memory can only hold a limited amount of information at one time, which directly influenced the restructuring of exercises into manageable speech units. This shift allowed students to practice simple phrases that could be combined into more complex sentences, facilitating rapid language acquisition.
Emphasizing Oral Communication
Central to the Neurolinguistic Method is the belief that spoken language skills should take precedence over reading and writing, especially in the initial stages of learning. Drawing parallels between the historical development of language and contemporary learning practices, the author argues that oral communication is essential for effective language acquisition. This emphasis is particularly relevant in scenarios where quick integration into a new culture, such as with refugees or immigrants, is necessary.
Methodological Features and the Role of Memory
Serhii’s methodology also addresses the differences in how adults and children memorize information. While children have a remarkable capacity for absorbing new vocabulary, adults often benefit from associative learning strategies that connect new information to existing knowledge. This insight led to the incorporation of techniques that enhance memory retention through meaningful associations.
Moreover, the method challenges traditional educational practices by eliminating homework. The rationale behind this decision is rooted in neuroscience: effective learning requires periods of rest and distraction to consolidate new information. By allowing students to engage in other activities, the brain can process and integrate knowledge more effectively.
Establishment of the Neurolinguistic Academy
After years of refining his methodology and witnessing its success with students, Serhii established the Neurolinguistic Academy. Over the past fifteen years, the Academy has trained more than 1,500 students, equipping them with practical language skills that enable them to continue their learning independently. The Academy offers various courses tailored to different levels of proficiency, ensuring that learners can progress according to their individual needs.
Conclusion
Serhii’s journey from traditional teaching methods to the creation of the Neurolinguistic Method exemplifies a commitment to understanding the intricacies of language acquisition. By prioritizing oral communication and drawing on insights from neuroscience, the author has developed an effective and engaging approach to language learning. The success of the Neurolinguistic Academy stands as a testament to the power of innovative teaching methods that align with the natural processes of human communication. Through this work, Serhii has not only transformed the way languages are taught but has also empowered countless individuals to achieve their language-learning goals.
